Routine appointments
To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days:
phone us on 01924 461369, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6.30pm
use your SystmOnline account
visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm
use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) to book a screening test or vaccination
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.
We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.
Early Morning Clinical Cover
Between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), if the surgery is not open due to unforeseen circumstances, clinical cover is provided via phone number given on answer phone when you ring surgery. During this time, any urgent medical queries will be triaged by clinician, ensuring you receive timely and appropriate care.
Urgent appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):

- visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm or phone number given on answer phone until 6.30pm after which ring 111.
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Extended Opening Hours
Practice Extended-Hours are provided at Dewsbury Health Centre by Curo Health Ltd where Patients can now see a local GP, Nurse, Phlebotomist for routine appointments on weekday evenings and at weekends.
Our practice has dedicated appointment slots for our patients. These are pre-bookable 10-15 minute appointments that available between 6.30pm and 9.30pm each weekday, with additional slots available on Saturdays from 9am and 4pm and Sundays 9am and 1pm and are designed for patients who would otherwise find it difficult to see a Doctor during normal opening hours due to their work.Please ask our reception staff if you would like to book into an appointment at these times

You may be offered a consultation:
- By phone – speak to a clinician without needing to travel
- Face-to-face at the surgery – for when an in-person visit is best
- Online GP consultation via Patchs – submit your symptoms or requests securely and get a response from a GP
- By video call
- By text or email – for quick updates, follow-ups, or advice
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Booking an Appointment
You can request or book an appointment through:
- In person – visit the surgery to speak with our team
- Phone – call our reception team during opening hours
- Online platforms – including TPP SystmOnline, Patchs, and the NHS App
- Online GP consultation via Patchs
- Online Self-Booking: For certain services, you may be offered the option to book directly into allocated slots using a booking link from our clinical system – ideal for services like Planned Procedures or vaccinations or via our subcontractor’s Recall and Booking Management Service – helping you choose a convenient time with ease..
Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- using the GP online system – SystmOnline
- phone us on 01924 461369, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.15pm
- reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
- Patients should note that any missed appointment or same day cancellation not only wastes valuable Doctor and Nursing time, but also means everyone waits longer to be seen.
If you need help when we are closed
We are closed outside of our normal opening hours and on all public holidays. If you need medical help during these times:
use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Practice Protected Time
The surgery will be closed for one afternoon for PPT training (Every third Tuesday of the Month) and there will be no routine clinics or surgery appointments on that afternoon. The surgery will be closed for routine and emergency appointments from 12.30 pm – 6.30 pm.
Medical cover will be provided by Local care Direct Out-of Hours Service – Please call NHS111 if you require medical attention but it’s not life-threatening and it’s not urgent enough to call 999
NHS 111 operates 24/7, 365 days per year and is free to use from a Landline and a mobile
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need and how best it can be addressed. Triaging helps us to take appropriate action and advise you accordingly so you get the best care. Some requests may need ambulance service input.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8am as possible.
